Questa estate, durante le vacanze, ho letto per la prima volta in vita mia le "Enneadi" di Plotino. Mi è sembrato uno dei più ardimentosi, anticipatori e ulteriori libri di "filosofia" che siamo mai stati scritti.
Se accosto quest'opera mediante le consuete semplificazioni e concatenazioni concettuali della "storia della filosofia" e delle idee e le sue consuete e sbrigative definizioni ("metafisica", "neoplatonismo", "idealismo", "dualismo" ecc…) nulla sembrerebbe più lontano da me. Ma se invece mi ci immergo senza questi paraocchi mentali, ecco che allora mi si spalanca una cosa del tutto nuova, che ha qualcosa da dire anche oggi, soprattutto oggi, nella nostra inaudita -terminale o iniziale- condizione planetaria e di specie.
E' un'opera che da quasi duemila anni e nonostante una terminologia che può apparirci risibile e paradossale, è in grado di confrontarsi come poche altre con le nuove conoscenze o intuizioni che ci vengono dalla biologia, dall'antropologia, dalla psicanalisi, dalla fisica, dalla genetica, dall'astrofisica e da altre indagini della nostra inconcepibile condizione di esistenza dentro il mare misterioso dell'esistenza cosmica. E allora -se è con questo tipo di sensibilità e di conoscenze che la leggiamo- anche quegli aspetti del pensiero di Plotino che sono stati definiti appunto con termini come "idealismo", "dualismo" e persino "misticismo" acquistano un aspetto del tutto diverso e inaspettato.
Le cose da dire sarebbero molte, il tempo è poco. Proverò -come faccio di solito in queste anticipazioni strappate in fretta a molte altre cose- a darvi un'idea di questo magnetico libro attraverso rapide osservazioni e facendo soprattutto sentire la voce diretta e inconfondibile dell'autore.

Cominciamo.
Durante la lettura mi chiedevo continuamente: e se vedessimo tutto questo "idealismo" e "dualismo" come un'intuizione -nata dall'interno del pensiero filosofico e delle sue antinomie concettuali e così come poteva essere attingibile a Plotino- della presenza della nostra materia dentro quella dimensione infinitamente più vasta che la fisica odierna ha provato a chiamare "materia oscura", "energia oscura" e di cui la nostra materia e la nostra energia non sarebbero che una sorta di ripensamento, un residuo?

Strano "dualismo" di materia e Anima, di bene e male, comunque, visto che tra i due c'è qui un rapporto continuo, un abbraccio continuo, un trascinamento continuo:

"Siccome non può esistere solo il Bene, bisogna che nella sua uscita da sé, o se si preferisce nella sua discesa e nell'allontanarsi, si trovi un termine estremo oltre cui non si genera più nulla: ebbene questo termine è il male. Ma, dato che deve esserci necessariamente qualcosa oltre al Primo, ecco che deve esistere un termine estremo, e tale è appunto la materia, la quale non serba più nulla del Bene. In ciò, appunto, la necessità del male."

"Il male non deve essere cercato in chissà quale posto, ma si deve collocare nell'Anima come mancanza di bene."

"Così l'Anima muore, ma della morte che tocca alle anime: e per un'Anima calata in un corpo la morte consiste nell'affondare nella materia e riempirsi di essa."

"La materia ha usurpato lo spazio occupato dall'Anima e per così dire l'ha costretta a 'contrarsi'".

"L'Anima non sarebbe entrata nel processo della generazione nella materia se questa non ne avesse permesso la nascita per il fatto di esserci."

Qui "l'Anima" è qualcosa di diverso e di più rispetto a quello che comunemente si intende dopo secoli e millenni di semplificazioni concettuali e depotenziamenti linguistici. E anche la "materia" è qualcosa di più, di meno e di più.

E poi, se l'Anima è un universale di cui noi facciamo parte, che differenza c'è (al di là di questioni di parole e di termini usati) non solo con Spinoza ma persino con le più estreme semplificazioni altrettanto "metafisiche" del materialismo? Un "materialismo" che però non contiene neppure l'intuizione di questa misteriosa e drammatica compresenza, o almeno di qualcosa che percepiamo o possiamo percepire solo come compresenza.

Leggo certe pagine di questo libro e mi riesce difficile pensare che il Dante del "Paradiso" o quello del "Purgatorio" non ci abbia posato gli occhi:
"Tutte le cose sono dipendenti da Lui e siccome per l'Anima non è possibile dirigersi alla sua volta, si limita a girargli intorno. Perché, allora, tutte le anime non si comportano in questo modo? In verità, ciascuna Anima, dovunque sia, ha questo comportamento. E allora perché anche i nostri corpi non fanno altrettanto? Per il fatto che la tendenza al moto rettilineo non si separa da loro, e gli impulsi li attirano verso altri corpi, mentre quel tipo di sfericità che si incontra fra noi uomini non è scorrevole, a motivo della sua natura terrestre. Al contrario, lassù il cielo segue Dio grazie alla sua leggerezza e mobilità. E poi, a prescindere dal movimento che lo riguarda, per quale motivo dovrebbe arrestarsi, quando l'Anima si muove? Forse anche in noi uomini il pneuma che circonda l'Anima agisce in questo modo, perché se Dio è in ogni essere, l'Anima che voglia collegarsi a Lui deve stargli intorno, dato che non c'è un luogo particolare dove Dio si collochi."
Oppure:
"Accompagnare le anime fino al giudizio equivale per il dèmone ad assumere un'altra volta, dopo la morte dell'uomo, quella stessa forma che aveva prima della nascita. E poi, nuovamente ripartendo dall'inizio per tutto il periodo che intercorre tra una generazione e l'altra, il dèmone sta vicino alle anime purganti, le quali in questa fase non tanto stanno vivendo, quanto espiando le loro colpe."

E sentite qui! Di cosa si tratta: di arrampicamento sugli specchi metafisici o di una metafora della recente "teoria delle stringhe"?

"Quindi anche lassù, dove è situata nella dimensione del Bene ed è dotata di una superiore sensibilità, l'Anima si muove verso il bene e fa vibrare il corpo in senso spaziale, però in conformità alle nature di quella levatura. Inoltre, la potenza sensibile, dopo avere ricevuto anch'essa il Bene dall'alto ed essersi rallegrata della sua condizione, si mette sulle tracce del Bene che è dovunque diffuso e così è costretta a muoversi dovunque. Ecco dunque descritta la maniera in cui si muove l'Intelligenza: un moto che è insieme fissità, in quanto avviene intorno a se stesso. Non diversamente si verifica per il tutto che si muove in circolo e nello stesso tempo sta fermo."

Immobilità e movimento…
E -ancora- strano dualismo questo, dove i contrari sono necessari perché si realizzi l'ordine e la perfezione dell'insieme…
Al fondo di tanta "astrazione" un infinito e panico confronto con la "natura" tutta del mondo:

"La ragione formale esplica la sua funzione nella materia, e la causa attiva naturale non è né un atto di pensiero né una visione, bensì una forza che agita la materia, priva di coscienza e solo capace di agire, come farebbe una figura impressa nell'acqua."

Una materia completamente amorfa e in grado di accogliere ogni forma e di trasformarsi continuamente e perciò travolta nel processo della generazione.
Quella che chiamo "creazione creata"?
Ma di tutto questo è impossibile parlare qui, con questa lingua filosofica e in questo contesto. Per andare avanti e per esprimere quello che preme da tempo dentro di me e, soprattutto, per esprimere ulteriormente ciò che è infine apparso senza veli nella terza parte di "Canti del caos", ci vuole un altro linguaggio, diverso da quello filosofico e del pensiero separato. Ma poi neppure un altro linguaggio, un'altra forma, un'altra dimensione, che si può attingere solo stando dentro qualcosa d'altro. Dove sarò, dove sono…

Plotino è uno snodo della filosofia precedente e di quella futura, ben al di là del piccolo spazio mentale dove è stato collocato e delle sue successive semplificazioni o ibridazioni: neoplatonico, anticristiano ma alimento per i Padri della Chiesa e altri secolari baracconi metafisico-religiosi e filosofici…

Ancora e sempre, andando avanti in questa vertigine: la nostra residuale materia (su cui si fonda il nostro residuale "materialismo"), la materia oscura, l'energia oscura…
Oppure il libro sull'eternità attraverso gli astri di Blanqui…
Plotino è quello che -attraverso il solo meccanismo del pensiero disancorato- si è spinto più a fondo in questo abisso:

"Ma se ammettiamo una forma, dovremo ammettere anche una realtà informata, alla quale si riferisce la differenza. Pertanto ci deve essere anche la materia come ricettacolo della forma ed eterno sostrato. Inoltre, se lassù c'è un cosmo intelligibile e il nostro cosmo composto di materia e forma ne è l'imitazione, anche quello dovrà avere la sua materia."

Il trattato intitolato "La commistione totale" comincia così:

"Dobbiamo ora trattare della cosiddetta commistione totale dei corpi. In una miscela di liquidi ciascuno si mescola totalmente con gli altri, oppure, individualmente, uno ha la meglio sull'altro?"

Mentre nel trattato "Contro gli gnostici" si trova questa spiazzante ripulsa nei confronti dei disprezzatori del mondo:

"Indubbiamente, non ci aiuta a diventare buoni il disprezzo per il mondo, per gli dèi e per tutte le realtà meravigliose che esso accoglie. Invero ogni uomo vizioso, anche prima di diventare gnostico, avrebbe potuto disprezzare gli dèi; però, uno che non fosse in precedenza del tutto malvagio, o addirittura che sotto altri riguardi non lo fosse per niente, certo lo diverrebbe proprio a motivo di questo suo disprezzo."

Finisco qui questo primo avvicinamento.
Adesso proviamo a vedere come Plotino affronta il problema del male, tallone d'Achille di ogni filosofia.

Anti-immigrant terror in Greece continues...

The Greek government continues its crusade against migrants with continuing evictions, sweep operations and police collaboration with neo-Nazis.

ABDUCTIONS AND PUSHBACKS

After a police abduction that took them from the southern end of the country to the northern, the Kurdish refugees who reached the shores of Crete seem to have been transferred to Rodopi, Thrace. There is an ongoing campaign against their deportation, especially the deportation of the children among them and of the ones that have already filed asylum applications in Chania.

Same with the Chios refugees, who are now detained in Tychero, Evros, near the border with Turkey. The police chief of Alexandroupolis has been contacted by journalists and there are two important facts : first, that there were children among the immigrants, who have now been tranferred to Thessaloniki (the exact place is unknown) and, secondly, that he does not want to give a clear answer on what they plan to do. However, it is considered certain that the police wants to «return» them to Turkey.

SWEEP OPERATIONS AND POLICE – FASCIST SCUM COLLABORATION

According to the police, yesterday, 109 people were arrested during one more storming of the center of Athens by various police forces. About 90 of them were sans papiers. What is more, at evening at 9.00, fascists went down in Attikis square - around which many immigrants live -, without even previously announcing their presence with the infamous "committees of residents” rally calls. The fascists came to the square and began to bludgeon whatever laid ahead of them; they also sprayed faces with some unknown gas . At least three refugees were transported to hospital, many others were injured. Among the injured people was an American professor who was in the area and attempted to photograph the racist pogrom. He spent the night in the hospital, with blows to his head. The fascists took his the camera. Around the square there was a large police force, who not only did nothing, but went on to mass arrest mainly Afghan refugees!

EVICTIONS, MASS ARRESTS AND CLASHES

Today the police evicted immigrants en masse from two buildings in the center of Athens, which had been designated by the prefecture of Athens as dangerous for the public health or something. Police forces invaded the buildings at Sachtouri 7, and at Veranzerou str. near Omonia, and arrested a total of 86 immigrants.

During the eviction at Verantzerou street neighbors and immigrants with flags of Somalia were gathered in support of the arrested people, as well as some PAME (Communist Party trade union) members and a Communist Party MP. The Somali women at some point reacted vocally and attempted a sit-in protest, but the cops confined them again in the building to isolate them from journalists. According to the cops, the building was rented to a company which sub-letted it illegally to immigrants for of 5 euros a day per person.

When the cops tried to transfer the arrested immigrants from the rear street where they thought they would face no obstruction. Once this was understood by the assembled immigrants, some óf them moved to the rear of the police vehicle to prevent it from departing. Some of them clashed with riot police men and other police forces with sticks, punches, etc. The police vehicles made it to leave afterwards, leaving behind women and children. A few minutes later the large police forces withdrew from the point and concentrated their attention to guarding the nearby police department.

During the operation, a passer-by woman of about 50 years complained loudly about the police brutality calling the cops fascists for behaving this way to the immigrants. An undercover cop grasped her by the head and attempted to take her to the police station but people protested and intervened and the woman managed to escape.

Angry Somali men and women broke the window of a shop on the ground floor of the building where the immigrants lived. The squads were on the corner and intervened directly and there were more clashes. Indeed, the shop-owner had been insulting the immigrants everyday by calling them racist names, and has been a pioneer member in the “committees of residents and shop-owners” of the center – perhaps this is why the passing police patrols salute him.

The building was not completely evacuated, there were immigrants left inside when the police left.

IL FANTASMA DELLA LIBERTA' ARRIVA SEMPRE CON UN COLTELLO TRA I DENTI

Sparare alla carne e' il punto piu' alto dell'oppressione sociale. Tutte le pietre disselciate dal pavimento e lanciate sugli scudi della polizia alle vetrine dei templi delle comodita'; tutte le bottiglie incendiarie traccianti orbite di fuoco nei cieli notturni; tutte le barricate erette nelle strade della citta' separando le nostre zone dalle loro; tutti i depositi di spazzatura della societa' consumista cui le fiamme delle rivolte hanno finalmente dato un senso; tutti i pugni levati al cielo; queste sono le armi che danno carne e potere reale, non solo alla resistenza, ma anche alla liberta'.

E' anche solo per questo sentimento di liberta' che vale la pena scommettere su questi momenti: il sentimento delle mattine dimenticate della nostra infanzia, quando tutto poteva succedere perche' erano nostre, come esseri umani creativi, non i futuri uomini macchina produttivi della subordinazione, il lavoratore alienato, il proprietario privato, il padre di famiglia.

E' il sentimento che ti fa scontrare con i nemici della liberta' - che non te li fa piu' temere. E' per questo che tutti coloro che vogliono occuparsi dei loro affari, come se niente stia succedendo, come se niente fosse mai successo, hanno serie ragioni per essere spaventati.

Il fantasma della liberta' arriva sempre con un coltello tra i denti, con violenza per rompere ogni catena che riduca la vita ad una miserabile ripetizione, utile solo alla riproduzione delle relazioni sociali del dominio. Dal sabato 6 dicembre nessuna citta' in questo paese funziona normalmente, non c'e' modo di andare a fare la spesa, non ci sono strade libere per andare ai nostri posti di lavoro, non ci sono notizie su prossimi ristabilimenti governativi, non continua quel noncurante zapping tra gli stili di vita degli shows televisivi, non ci sono movide notturne intorno a piazza Syntagma, eccetera.

Queste notti, questi giorni, appartengono ad Alexis! Come surrealisti, siamo stati nelle strade dal primo momento, insieme a centinaia di altri ribelli e altra gente che solidarizzava, perche' il surrealismo e' nato dal respiro della strada e non ha intenzione di abbandonarlo. Dopo la resistenza di massa agli assassini di Stato, il vento della strada e' piu' caldo, piu' ospitale, piu' creativo.

Proporre una direzione a questo movimento non ci appartiene. Invece facciamo nostra ogni responsabilita' della lotta comune, perche' e' una lotta per la liberta'. Senza essere partigiani della violenza cieca o della violenza per la violenza, senza essere obbligati ad accettare ogni espressione di questo fenomeno di massa, lo consideriamo totalmente corretto.

Non lasciamo che questo alito infiammabile di poesia si calmi, tantomeno che muoia!

Convertiamolo invece in utopia certa: la trasformazione del mondo e della vita!

Nessuna pace per la polizia e per i suoi dirigenti!

Chi non riesce a comprendere questa rabbia puo' semplicemente tacere!

Secondo le informazioni ottenute da gruppi locali, la distruzione
della 'giungla', i campi dei migranti a Calais, potrebbe avvenire gia'
il 21 luglio
Dopo l'annuncio la settimana scorsa dei ministri per l'Immigrazione
della Francia e del Regno Unito, Besson e Woolas, di uno stanziamento
di circa £15 milioni in piu' per rinforzare il confine, le notizie da
Calais sono che la distruzione di questi campi sono state pianificate
dalle autorita' francesi e potrebbe avvenire gia' martedì 21 luglio.
Domandiamo che questi piani vengano immediatamente fermati, perchè
servirebbero solo a traumatizzare la gente e distruggere i loro pochi
averi e NON risolverebbero il problema dei migranti a Calais. La
brutalità contro i migranti a Calais deve essere esposta all'
attenzione e alla solidarita' internazionali.
Non dobbiamo lasciare che la stampa di destra e le politiche razziste
contro l'immigrazione dominino questo dibattito.

According to information obtained by local groups, the destruction of
'the jungle', migrant's camps in Calais, may go ahead as soon as 21st
July

Following the announcement from Frech and Uk immigration
ministers, (Besson and Woolas) last week about £15million more to
strengthen the border, the news from Calais is that the destruction of
these camps is being planned by the French authorities and could happen as
soon as Tuesday 21st July, 2009. We call for an immediate stop to these
plans, they would serve to traumatise people and destroy the few
possessions that they have and will NOT solve the problem of people
migrating through Calais. The brutalisation of people
in Calais must be exposed to international attention and solidarity.
The right wing media
and the anti-immigration, racist policies that it spreads can not be
allowed to dominate this debate.

Social peace is waiting by the corner. Justice prepares its claws.
Thodoris Iliopoulos remains the only one in prison at the “correctional department” of Koridalos following the events of December 2008. Th. Iliopoulos was arrested on the afternoon of Thursday December 2008 at the sidewalk leading to Propilaia. Gathered at the area was a multitude of people, amongst which press reporters, witnessing the clashes amongst the police and the protesters outside the Law School. By remaining in the area the people essentially prevented the suppressing forces from enforcing all of their brutality in action. Thus, when the police decided to disperse the gathered people with a brutish storming of the MAT riot units, aiming obviously at random arrests and injuries in order to terrorize, Th. Iliopoulos was arrested, being the most unfortunate of all gathered and to top it all was wearing black clothes. With no hesitation the copy/paste charges were waiting for him and as proved a ready made conviction.
Who could claim ignorance?
On July 8th 2009, and while still in custody for six months (from the 22nd of December), the Council of Appeals decided to retain Th. Iliopoulos in prison.
Its verdict regards and deems Th. Iliopoulos as a person that hasn’t regretted his actions, dangerous for public order and safety. Obviously, the state is obligated to maintain its social cohesion. In consequence, Th. Iliopoulos is the Boston Strangler, the Carpathian Dracula, maybe even responsible for the Kennedy assassination. He is certainly the Unwarranted Threat. He is the guilty one since every one else is innocent. All proof of innocence, such as his dignity, are redundant for a tool of the system such as the meatgrinder. The Republic was fortunately saved. The State can now go on flourishing.
Social justice is revengeful.

The state reveals itself when it kills. The state terrorizes when it is authoritative. The state imprisons when it is threatened. Yet it’s the prisons that maintain it. Incarcerations won’t save the bosses.

Sabato 6 Dicembre intorno alle 22.00, due poliziotti greci erano di pattuglia in una via centrale vicino a Piazza Exarchia, nel centro di Atene. Hanno avuto uno scontro verbale con alcuni giovani che si trovavano lì. Durante lo scontro, uno dei poliziotti ha estratto la pistola e sparato due volte a un ragazzo di 16 anni. La vittima è stata portata all'Ospedale Evangelismos dove è stata riconosciuta morta. Secondo testimoni oculari, il poliziotto stava insultando il ragazzo, mostrandogli i genitali, prima di sparare.

In una risposta spontanea, migliaia di persone si sono riunite nei centri della maggior parte delle città greche. Ad Atene la gente si è raccolta fuori dall'Ospedale Evangelismos, per evitare che la polizia entrasse nell'edificio. Poco dopo la polizia ha attaccato in una via vicino ad Exarchia ed una persona è stata arrestata. La sera in Atene si è evoluta con un'assemblea spontanea al Politecnico, molti disordini in tutto il centro di Atene, inclusi attacchi contro stazioni di polizia e banche, fino alle prime ore della mattina dopo. Nel frattempo, una manifestazione spontanea ha avuto luogo, ma è stata affrontata dalla polizia con il lancio di lacrimogeni. Altri tre edifici dell'Università - tra cui le facoltà di legge e di economia - sono stati occupati.

Manifestazioni, azioni dirette e disordini hanno avuto luogo in tutto il paese. A Thessaloniki (Salonicco) una grande manifestazione spontanea ha avuto luogo: due stazioni di polizia sono state attaccate, molte agenzie bancarie sono state bruciate e Via Egnatia - la via principale - è stata bloccata per ore con cassonetti incendiati. Sono anche stati postati report sulle azioni a Yannena, IraklioChania, Komotini, Mitilini, Xanthi, Serres, Sparta, Alexandroupolis e Volos.

Manifestazioni in tutte le città della Grecia sono state annunciate in questi giorni.

Strikes, hunger strikes and clashes in Greece

Strikes, hunger strikes and environmental action leading to clashes with riot police open week after weekend of state terror in Greece.

After the weekend of terror in Greece, the mid-summer week has started with a wave of strikes and environmental actions, underlining that the spine of the movement is too strong to break.

On Monday 13/7 trains across Greece came to a halt for 48h as a result of a rolling 3-hour stoopage industrial action by railway workers.At the same time workers at Wind, the mobile telecommunications giant, in Greece declared a 24h strike. Workers of Wind and solidarity workers of other industrial sectors gathered outside the company's HQ and blockaded its entrance on Tuesday 14/7 morning till the afternoon.

The same day the committee against harm, and the committee against exploitation in the village of Megali Panagia in Chalkidiki joined by scores of locals form the wider area built block houses along the forest roads leading to Scouries, the area that a big gold-mining company wants to transform into a wasteland with the support of the greek government which has recently passed a law that declares any opposition to the exploitation of minerals as treason. The area has a long history of struggle against gold mines which peaked in the late 1990s with the titanic struggle of Olympiada villagers against TVX-Gold.

Meanwhile OTE, the National Telecomunication Company has sued the historical Athens Polytechnic for hosting athens indymedia in its server, alleging that this violates the conditions of its contract with OTE. The Polytechnic has condemned the legal action as censorship in line with LAOS (fascist party) demands of gagging radical dissent to the regime. The legal action was also condemned by the Coalition of Radical Left. On Tuesday 14/7 protesters attacked the central OTE tower in Athens with black paint symbolising the information black out planned by its managers. Many workers in the tower expressed their support to the action.

The same day locals of Grammaticos who are resisting the construction of an open refuse damp in their area, and clashed with riot police last week erecting barricades and torching company bulldozers organised a protest march towards the riot police blockade of the construction site. The locals clashed with the police throwing stones and other projectiles, including a few molotov cocktails. The battle lasted for about an hour and the locals suffered the extended use of tear gas and 'blast flash' grenades.

In the prison front, Thodoris Iliopoulos started a hunger strike on the 10th of July 2009. Iliopoulos was arrested on the 18th of December 2008 in Akadimias street during a riot police sweeping operation in the context of the December Uprising. He is held since the 22nd of December in the Court Prisons of Koridallos accused for 3 crimes with no witnesses other than policement. Iliopoulos denies all charges against him, and has launched a long campaign to prove his innocence. On the 8th of July his petition for release until his trial was waived by judges, being the only arrested from the December Uprising to be still held hostage. On beginning his hunger strike Iliopoulos declared: "In go on hunger strike. It is the only means remaining to me as a hostage on order to cry out the truth and denounce the terrible injustice. To denounce the hatred and the empathy of 'justice' mechanisms. To denounce the arbitrariness and the violence of a 'justice' which is blind indeed, the its even more 'blind' functionaries". In solidarity the convict Nicos Tsouvalakis has also started a hunger strike demanding the release of Iliopoulos and in protest to the dehumanising prison conditions. As of Monday 13 of July the inmates of the First Wing of Koridallos Prison, the central prison of the country in Athens, declared that they abstain from the prison kitchen ration.

Meanwhile 19 Pakistani asylum seekers held in the police station of Glyfada, south Athens, are in their fourth day of hunger strike in protest to the agreement of the ministry of Public Order and the Pakistani Embassy to repatriate them. The asylum seekers claim that their life is in danger if they return to Pakistan.

Nazi Greek state: Kristallnacht in Patras, bullets in Athens, torture in Simi

The rapid nazification of the Greek state took off last weekend with the violent evacuation and torching of the large Afghan immigrant settlement in Patras, shooting of immigrants in Omoinoia square and institutionalised torture of Pakistanis in the island of Simi.

The Greek state's response to the December Uprising and the politicisation of immigrants across the country has solidified in a programme of nazification that includes open endorsement of neo-nazi vigilante combat groups, a series of the most repressive laws seen since the junta, and open attack against both the social antagonistic movement and immigrants across the country.

On early Saturday 11/7 morning armed nazi scum riding a car drove by the heavily policed Omonoia square in down town Athens and opened fire on bystander immigrants near the offices of the Golden Dawn neo-nazi party. Three wounded immigrants were taken to hospital and are out of danger. Later the same night nazi scum set fire on Palio Efetio, the Old Appeal Court opposite their offices which is being squatted by immigrants and is being vilified by the bourgeois press.

The same day, the Pakistani Community denounced yet another incident of institutionalised stripping and torture committed by the fascist greek police in the island of Simi. For 8 hours Wassim Sanjat, Mazhjar Ali and Mohamet Ali were tortured: cops tortured Wassim by "placing a gun on his head, beating him with a glob and iron stick on the soles of his feet (a torture loved by the junta called phallanga) and on his bottom and stripping him again and again. The other two persons were severely beaten. The Pakistani Community demands the immediate punishment of the torturers-policemen.

In the early hours of Sunday 12/7 strong riot police forces surrounded the big Afghan immigrant settlement in Patras, cordoning off the area. The riot policemen then moved to evacuate the thousands of asylum seekers using maximum force, while bulldozers moved in to demolish their houses.During the evacuation operations, the settlement was 'mysteriously' set on fire, and torched to the ground. The settlement is believed to have been housing more than 2,000 Afghans and has been repeatedly targeted by fascists receiving the solidarity of a wide spectrum of progressive social forces in the city of Patras. The Red Cross has condemned the evacuation and torching of the settlement as 'terrorist'. The Communist Party (KKE) has condemned the attack as barbaric and the Coalition of Radical Left as 'beastial' and 'criminal'. The evacuated immigrants are held in concentration centers of zero hygienic facilities, host to continuing greek police torture and brutality.

The nazification of the Greek state which is endorsing parastate groups to 'clean and patrol' areas comes in a climate of acute social antagonistic upheaval. Besides the continuing resistance locals of Grammaticos villages who rose against the construction of an open refuse dump in their area, erecting barricades and clashing with the police, last week saw a series of dynamic antifascist antiracist protest marches against State-nazi attacks against immigrants. At the same time, on the early hours of Saturday the house of the ex-Minister of Public Order (active during the December Uprising and Alexis Grigoropoulos assassination by the police) and ex-chief of the Greek Army, General Hinophotis, was bombed with a strong explosive device after prior warning call to the press. A few hours later earlier yet another armed attack against riot police forces occurred near the HQ of PASOK with no victims On the early morning Sunday, following the surge of State-fascist attacks the HQ camp of the riot police (MAT) in Athens came under attack by protesters which piled the riot policemen with stones leading to a half hour battle.
